Infosys Technologies has been rechristened as Infosys Limited. The decision was taken at the board meeting held in Bangalore yesterday.
Explaining the rationale behind the change in name, Infosys CEO and MD S Gopalakrishnan said, "Infosys is into a diverse set of businesses from consulting to BPO and business solution leveraging technology. The company is present in many parts of the world. It was felt that the brand of Infosys is so strong that we would like to rename the company as Infosys Limited. This is a part of our 3.0 vision for the company."
S Gopalakrishnan has been elevated to the post of co-chairman effective August 21, 2011.
