Yuvraj: Enjoying my responsibilites

Yuvraj Singh's all-round effort was instrumental in India registering a relatively easy win against Ireland on Sunday in Bengaluru.

The Punjab southpaw was delighted to have contributed to the team's cause. He was even more satisfied with his bowling effort. "It feels great to pick up a five-wicket haul in an ODI, more so because this is my first", he said.

Despite the terrific effort, he downplayed talks of him having graduated as a specialist spinner. "I am very much a part-timer. I am happy to chip in with overs whenever the side wants me to, and in the process if I pick up wickets it is a big advantage", he said.

Yuvraj had a confused look when questioned about the UDRS. "I don't understand the rule, so can't talk much about it, obviously I have learnt that the 2.5 meter rule is not applicable anymore, or is it?", he asked.

When asked about the lackluster performance of Harbhajan and Piyush, he said " Bhajji is a world-class bowler, and Piyush is a great talent. Efforts always don't reflect in the wicket column, today was my day".

Despite Harbhajan not being amongst the wickets, he felt it wasn't an area of concern. "The pressure created by Bhajji from the other end and the run-out of Niall O'Brien helped me chip away at the wickets, as it wasn't easy for new batsmen coming in on this pitch", he added.

His batting was the biggest positive for India. With two fifties in two games, he hinted at a sign of things to come. "I am happy to have contributed in a winning cause. My role depends on the situation. At the moment, I am just concentrating on finishing games for India. I am enjoying the responsibility ", he said.

He appreciated the efforts of Ireland. "They are a very good side and deserve a lot more chances to play on a regular basis. They can put the top sides under pressure on any given day", he added.

With Yuvraj marking a return to form, it only augers well for the Indian side, who have two mighty clashes against South Africa and West Indies still to come.
